Had a great day at the Forge on Saturday. Taken through the basics of blacksmithing. Then got down to making a poker with a twist The afternoon spent making my own piece of garden furniture. Together with 3 others, the instruction was thorough including the health a safety aspect plenty of coffee/tea and pastries/ sandwiches and cake in the afternoon ( I couldn't indulge having had too much to eat by then. This was a thoroughly enjoyable day. Andrew
I thoroughly enjoyed my Blacksmith Taster Day. It was a unique experience and great fun. Lizzie guided us through various basic techniques and, at the end of the day, we took home the fruits of our labours. Helen
Forge Taster Days Feedback
I commissioned 4 bespoke metal stands for my artwork from Blacksmith Lizzie Whyte in 2018. She was extremely knowledgeable about what metals would be best to use to bring my vision to life and completed the work accurately and on time. I was thrilled with the results and would not hesitate to recommend her work and friendly service to other people.
I’ve known Lizzie for about 5 years. I sat next to her at a Christmas networking event and loved her straight away! She is fun, creative, generous, slightly no, quite a bit wacky, fearless, and extremely customer focused. I have engaged her many times in her capacity as the owner of Wood & Iron - first to create a bespoke heavy-duty side-gate for us from wood and twirly iron scrolls - I drew a design and Lizzie made it come to life - it is still a talking point whenever anyone visits.
Lizzie also made us a bespoke bird table from forged iron hooks and scrolls. It is like a work of art and it makes me smile every time I look out of the kitchen window. And, as my husband and I went to one of Lizzie’s forge days we were able to include a scroll of our own into the design which was really cool. I’d really recommend her forge days too by the way - they are so much fun, a great workout and you come away with a real sense of achievement and all angst is left on the anvil!!
Lizzie made us a really unique sculpture/ bird feeder for my fathers 80th birthday. It was great working with Lizzie and she managed to turn my rough sketch in reality, complete with a squirrel baffle ( a cone that stops the squirrels stealing all the nuts). We asked her to incorporate a fuchsia flower and a bird to reflect his interests and he loved these personal touches. I would definitely commission Lizzie in the future and can highly recommend her skills and professionalism.
